Medicine for the Mind, Soul and Body!!

Hello World!!  Welcome to my first blog and my new website. Being new to the fitness business my goals are to help others.  Drawing from personal experience I can tell you I have been stocky and out of shape and I have been critically ill and fought my way back.  My goal is to share what I have learned to help as many people as I can.

I have always been physically active but I never knew that I would enjoy helping people achieve their goals. When I was very sick in the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, all I could think about was getting well, being active and getting out into nature with my dog, Misty.   I enjoy a lot of different physical activities. There is a special kind of healing that occurs in nature and for me, being physically active in nature is very powerful.  Have you ever noticed that when you are out enjoying nature troubles melt away, you forget about what may be stressing you out, stress at work, home, bills to pay, car to fix, –  just the day to day realities that seem to weigh on us all to different degrees.

Getting the blood flowing through our body is very important to flush out free radicals, flush out dead cells and get your heart pumping. You feel younger, more inspired, enlightened and creative.  The after affects of physical activity help you cope and find the solutions to those day to day stressors.    If physical activity had no effect on your physical appearance would you still do it? The truth is the affects of exercise and movement on your inside organs is very powerful and very important in our daily life, even if it is only 20 minutes a day. And it can be fun, folks!  This does not need to be a grind.  When you find the physical activity you enjoy, it becomes the ‘tonic’ you look forward to.

I was never a goal setter in my life.  When I was very ill and clinging to life, I set a goal to be out of the hospital in 4 weeks. I visualized myself out snowmobiling and that became my motivation to continue to fight for my life and not give up. I could barely walk 5 feet to the bathroom when I was at my weakest to cycling over 240 kms 8 months later. I share this with you not to brag but to inspire you that maybe you are missing some physical activity that would enhance your life.  Exercise is medicine, the healing and coping power is profound.  Contact me if you would like to begin to explore a change in your physical activity that makes you want to do more.  And remember, this can be fun!!!

Stay tuned for more !!!
